The GIANT Room partners with Lysol to bring educator’s voices into the design process of a series of Science Kits for schools
The GIANT Room, an innovation lab for children and their families, is pleased to announce they are partnering with Lysol, the #1 most trusted and pediatrician-recommended disinfecting brand in the US, to co-design a series of Science Kits for schools as part of their HERE for Healthy Schools initiative. We are bringing together diverse groups of elementary school teachers with researchers and industry innovators to put learning, wellbeing, and DEI (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion) at the center of product development for these kits to be distributed in schools in the upcoming academic year. Second grade elementary school teachers and cluster science teachers are invited to please apply. Participating educators will receive $100 Amazon gift card for in-person participation and $50 for online participation as a token of our appreciation.
Participation entails joining one workshop focused on co-designing and prototyping a series of science games, activities, and experiments with Lysol and GIANT design teams. Teachers who join will be asked to reflect on their teaching experience in the classroom, to provide feedback and advice on the program, and to join a prototyping exercise with industry innovators and researchers. Educators can join the workshop in-person on July 11th at the Teach for America in New York City or online via zoom on July 11th or July 30th.
Lysol is committed to giving parents and teachers the resources they need to keep kids healthy and in school. The intended impact of the HERE for Healthy Schools program is to reduce school absenteeism through creating hands-on activities that are fun and engaging while teaching the science of germs and better hygiene behaviors.
The GIANT Room believes the most engaging and effective learning experiences are the ones that are designed with teachers’ points of view in mind, and even better, those that are designed with educators involved in the design process. If given the opportunity, teachers design the most magical products and learning experiences that can enlighten thousands of classrooms. This partnership allows educators to have a voice in designing Science Kits with activities and lesson plans that are not only engaging, fun, and educational but also easy to implement in classrooms through careful consideration of alignment with core school subjects and standards.
Participating educators will receive $100 Amazon gift card for in-person participation and $50 for online participation as a token of our appreciation. They will also receive complementary Science Kits to use in their classrooms in the upcoming academic year.
We are accepting a limited number of educators to participate in the program. Second grade elementary school teachers and cluster science teachers are highly encouraged to apply today.
