GIANT One Day Camp at Children Museum of the Arts

  • Children Museum of The Arts 103 Charlton Street New York, NY, 10014 United States (map)

Make it so… it breaks the glass ceiling!

DESCRIPTION: Make it so it defies, it shines, it jumps, it hides, it gives you a space to be! Taught by two PhDs in Education with backgrounds in engineering and and science education, this one-day camp experience encourages participants to work collaboratively, think creatively, and tinker with STEAM (STEM + Arts) materials. At the beginning of the day, campers will be invited to build architectural sculptures using dowels, ropes, strings, conductive threads, and fabrics. They will then gather around a “campfire” and brainstorm ways to refine their sculptures so they spark, become spiderwebs or birds nests, or even break the glass ceiling! During the second part of the day, campers will use LEDs, batteries, solar panels, and other electronic building blocks to remix and transform their sculptures. This will be a fun day camp full of inspiration, creativity, and STEAM learning.

TIME: One Day Camp, Oct 9th, 9am to 5pm

LOCATION: Children Museum of the Arts in Manhattan

RECOMMENDED FOR: Children 5 to 12 years old
